Discussion:
[installation-guide for armel] no longer supported devices
(too old to reply)

Hi,

while translating the release-notes for Bullseye, I noticed that support for
some devices has been dropped, which we currently list in the installation-guide
as supported (see
https://www.debian.org/releases/testing/armel/release-notes/ch-information.de.html#no-longer-supported-hardware)

I have prepared a patch, to update the installation-guide according this.
(I already remove old parts, mentioning which devices have been dropped from
Debian 8.)

Comments (especially arm people) ?

Unfortunately, that page is incorrect. Support for all QNAP Turbo
Station devices was dropped.

This page should say:

* QNAP TS-109/TS-209 and TS-409
* QNAP TS-11x/TS-12x, TS-21x/TS-22x and TS-41x/TS-42x

Thus turning this into a bugreport against release-notes.

Moreover, couldn't this be simplified then, into something like

"Support for all QNAP Turbo Station devices (TS-xxx) was dropped?"

?

Really sad, that this is only coming somewhat late...

There are also non-ARM Turbo Station devices (i.e. x86 based devices
that will run regular Debian). But since this is in the armel release
notes, I think your wording is fine.

Support for all QNAP Turbo Station devices based on Marvell chips was
dropped, but that might just make it more confusing.

A patch based on this is attached (it makes the section only appear in
the armel release-notes - currently the paragraph is visible in all archs -
and changes the model numbers to "TS-xxx").

Looks good to me.
